Octahedron-likeBaMoO4microcrystalsweresynthesizedbytheco-precipitationmethodatroomtemperatureandprocessedinmicrowave-hydrothermalat413Kfordifferenttimes(from30minto5h).ThesemicrocrystalswereanalyzedbyX-raydiffraction(XRD),field-emissiongunscanningelectronmicroscopy(FEG-SEM)andtransmissionelectronmicroscopy(TEM).XRDpatternsshowedthatthismaterialpresentsatetragonalstructurewithoutthepresenceofdeleteriousphases.FEG-SEMandTEMmicrographsrevealedthattheBaMoO4microcrystalspresentanoctahedron-likemorphologywithagglomeratenatureandpoly-disperseparticlesizedistribution.Thesemicrographsalsoindicatedthatthemicrocrystalsgrowalongthe[001]direction.Theobservedcrystallographicplanesinthesestructuresweremodeledcomputationallyandacrystalgrowthmodelwasproposedinordertoexplainthemorphologicalchangesasafunctionofprocessingtime.
