Basedonthecharacteristicsofwaves,tidalcurrents,sedimentandseabedevolutionintheCaofeidianseaareaintheBohaiBay,a2Dsedimentmathematicalmodelofwavesandtidalcurrentsisemployedtostudythedevelopmentschemesoftheharbor.Verificationofspringandneaptidalcurrentsandsedimentinthewinterandsummerof2006showsthatthecalculatedvaluesoftidalstagesaswellasflowvelocities,flowdirectionsandsedimentconcentrationof15synchronousverticallinesareingoodagreementwiththemeasureddata.Also,depositionanderosionoftheseaareainfrontofCaofeidianoreterminalinducedbysuspendedloadundertidalcurrentsandwavesareverified;itshowsthatthecalculatedvaluesofdepthofdepositionanderosionaswellastheirdistributionareclosetothemeasureddata.Furthermore,effectsofreclamationschemeofislandinfrontofthelandbehindCaofeidianharboronthehydrodynamicenvironmentarestudied,includingchangesofflowvelocitiesinthedeepchannelsatthesouthsideofCaofeidianforelandandLaolonggouandinvariousharborbasins,aswellaschangesofdepositionanderosionofseabedinducedbytheproject.
