Atfirst,aseriesoffiniteelementmethod(FEM)simulationtestswereusedtofindthecriticalformingconditionsofhot-galvanizedsheetsteelduringtherectangularboxdrawingprocessingwhenconstantblankholderforceswereapplied.Accordingthetestresults,thereasonablealterationscopeofinitialvariableblankholderforce(VBHF)wasas1.9~2.3T.Then,basedonthetestproductionsofblankholderforce,12typicalVBHFcurveswereappliedtoperformthesimulationtestsbythesimulationsoftwareofDYNAFORM.ThesimulationtestresultsshowedthatVBHFhadgreateffectsondrawingformabilityofhot-galvanizedsheetsteelduringtherectangularboxdrawing.However,thedifferentVBHFcurveswereappliedtocontrolthewholedrawinganditwouldgetgreatdifferenteffects.Atthesametine,theVBHFhadgreateffectsonthemaximumthickthinningratio,buthadlittleeffectonthemaximumthickincrassationratio.So,reasonableapplicationoftheVBHFwouldgreatlydecreasethefractures.WhentheVBHFprofileistakenascurveL,thebesteffectofdrawingformabilitycouldbeobtained.WhencurveIisused,contraryeffectcouldbegotten.TheothertypesofcurveswouldcauseeffectsbetweenabovetwotypesofVBHFcurves.Finally,theactualtestswereappliedtocheckthevalidityoftheFEMsimulationtests.TheresultsshowthattheFEMsimulationtestsaregoodwaysforpredictingandoptimizingtheVBHF.
