Catalyticcombustionofpropane-airmixturewasinvestigated.Platinumcatalystsoveraflatstainlesssteelwithγ-aluminawashcoatwereemployed.Theemployedburnerhasthreecatalystssetparalleltothemixtureflow,spacedatanintervalof5,10and15mm.Bothexperimentandnumericalsimulationweremadeatinlettemperatureof553K,inletvelocityof3to7m/sandequivalenceratioof0.3to0.5.Inthenumericalsimulation,two-dimensional,steadystatemodelwasdevelopedtocalculatethetemperatureandspeciesconcentrationingas-phase.Inthismodel.chemicalreactiononthecatalystsurfaceandthatinthegasphasewereassumedtooccurinthree-steps.Thenumericalresultsshowgoodagreementwithexperimentalresults.Itwasfoundthatthepropertiesofthecatalyststronglyaffectthecatalystsurfacetemperature.Especially,thethermalconductivityofcatalysthasagreateffect,whiletheemissivityofcatalysthaslesseffect.
