Basedoneconomicconvergencemodelanditsderivatives,thispaperexaminestherelationshipbetweenpopultionmobilityandeconomicgrowthinChongqinganditsfivefunctionalareasbyusing2000~2013paneldata.Theresultsshowthatthereexistsinteractiverelationshipbetweenpopulationmobilityandeconomicgrowth,andthisinteractionisrenderedasmutualinhibition.Therestrainfromeconomicgrowthtopopulationmobilityshowssmallereffectthanthereverse.Inthesparselypopulatedareas,economicgrowthispromotedbypopulationmobility,andinthedenselypopulatedareas,economicgrowthisdrivenbyinvestment.Therefore,governmenthastoregulatepopulationmobilitytoachievesustainableeconomicgrowth.
