ThepresentstudywasdesignedtoexplorethesubstratescopeandbiocatalyticcapabilityofGliocladiumdeliquescensNRRL1086onphenolicnaturalproducts.EmodinwassubjectedtothefermentationcultureofGliocladiumdeliquescensNRRL1086accordingtothestandardtwo-stageprotocol.ThebiotransformationprocesswasmonitoredbyHPLC-DAD-MS,themainproductwasisolatedbycolumnchromatography,andthestructurewaselucidatedonthebasisofNMRspectroscopy.EmodincouldbefullymetabolizedbyGliocladiumdeliquescensNRRL1086,resultinginhighyieldofemodin6-O-β-D-glucopyranosideandsmallamountofsulfatedproduct.Inconclusion,ourresultsmayprovideaconvenientmethodtoprepareemodin6-O-β-D-glucopyranosideandthemicrobecatalyzedglucosylation/sulfationwillgiveaninspirationtopharmacokineticmodelstudiesinvitro.
