TakingTi-6Al-4Vspecimensintoconsideration,thecoupledthermal-electricalfiniteelementmodelhasbeendevelopedinAbaqus/ExplicittosimulatetheheatingprocessinGleeble3800andtostudythetemperaturehistoryanddistributioninthespecimen.Inordertoverifythefiniteelement(FE)results,thermaltestsarecarriedoutonGleeble3800foraTi-6Al-4Vspecimenwithaslottointhecentreofthespecimen.Theeffectsofthespecimensize,heatingrate,andairconvectiononthetemperaturedistributionoverthespecimenhavebeeninvestigated.Theconclusionscanbedrawnas:thetemperaturegradientofthespecimendecreasesasthespecimensize,heatingrate,andvacuumingdecrease.
