Hidingdatainthedeoxyribosenucleicacid(DNA)canfacilitatetheauthenticationandannotationofimportantplantvarietyrights.Agrantofplantvarietyrightsforanewplantvarietygivesyoutheexclusiverighttoproduceforsaleandsellpropagatingmaterialofthevariety.Digitalwatermarkingtechniqueshavebeenproposedforawiderangeofapplications,includingownershipprotection,copycontrol,annotation,andauthentication.However,existingdatahidingmethodsforDNAchangethefunctionalitiesofDNAsequences,whichinducemorphologicalchangesinbiologicalpatterns.ThispaperproposesahighcapacitydatahidingschemeforDNAwithoutchangingthefunctionalitiesofDNAsequences.Thisschemeadaptivelyvariestheembeddingprocessaccordingtotheamountofhiddendata.Experimentalresultsshowthattheproposedschemegivesasignificantlyimprovedhidingperformancethanpreviousschemes.Andtherobustnessandsecurityissuesarealsoanalyzed.
