摘要
Traditionally,literaryreadingisregardedasapracticalmeanstostimulatetheinterestofEFLstudentsintheirstudyofEnglishtoacceleratethedevelopmentoftheirL2acquisition;literaryworksareconsideredaprimeresourceoflinguisticinputtoheightenthequalityoflearners’targetlanguage.Yet,there-searchfindingsfromthisstudyindicatethatsuchlinguisticinputcannoteffectivelybenefittheEnglishmajorswhentheirL2isnotwelldevelopedtocopeefficaciouslywithsuchreaders.Inaddi-tion,researchfindingsalsoindicatethatmanyliterarywordsandphrasesrelatedtoanotherculturalandsocialbackgroundnotonlyintensifytheobstaclestopropercomprehensionbutalsolimitopportunityforpracticalapplicationofthissortoflinguis-ticinputinthesocialmilieuwherethelearnerslive.Therefore,howtocopewithliteraryworksinlanguagelearningandwhatsortoflinguisticinputthatcaneffectivelystimulatethedevelop-mentoflearners’L2acquisitionintheirownsocialenvironmentneedtobeexplored.
