摘要
Muonsproducedbyashortpulselasercanserveasanewtypeofmuonsourcehavingpotentialadvantagesofhighintensity,smallsourceemittance,shortpulsedurationandlowcost.Tovalidateitinexperiments,asuitablemuondiagnosticssystemisneededsincehighmuonfluxgeneratedbyashortpulselasershotisalwaysaccompaniedbyhighradiationbackground,whichisquitedifferentfromcasesingeneralmuonresearches.Adetectionsystemisproposedtodistinguishmuonsignalsfromradiationbackgroundbymeasuringthemuonlifetime.Itisbasedonthescintillatordetectorwithwaterandleadshields,inwhichwaterisusedtoadjustenergiesofmuonsstoppedinthescintillatorandleadtoagainstradiationbackground.AGeant4simulationontheperformanceofthedetectionsystemshowsthatefficiencyupto52%couldbearrivedforlow-energymuonsaround200MeVandthisefficiencydecreasesto14%forhigh-energymuonsabove1000MeV.Thesimulationalsoshowsthatthemuonlifetimecanbederivedproperlybymeasuringattenuationofthescintillalightofelectronsfrommuondecaysinsidethescintillatordetector.
