Numerical simulation and experimental verification of the restraint intensity of pipeline girth welding joint

摘要 Therestraintintensity(RI)ofthepipelinegirthweldingjointwasinvestigatedusingfiniteelementmethodandexperimentalmethodtopredictthecoldcrackingsusceptibilityofpipelinesteel.ThedistributionofRIalongthegirthweldwasinvestigatedtostudytheinfluenceofweldingpositionontheRI.Subsequently,theeffectsofouterdiameter(OD)andwallthicknessofpipelineontheRIwerestudiedwithABAQUSsoftware.TheresultsshowthattheRIisalmostindependentofweldingposition.TheRIincreasedwiththeincreasingwallthicknessbutdecreasedwiththeincreasingOD.ApredictionmodelofRIwasdevelopedbasedontheeffectsoftheODandthewallthickness.IthasbeenfoundthatthepredictedRIswereingoodagreementwiththeexperimentalvalues.ThemaximumfractionalerrorbetweenthepredictedRIandtheexperimentalvalueswasjustabout10%.Itwasindicatedthattheerrorsweremainlycausedbytheheterogeneousoftheweldbead.
