简介:ThisarticleprognosticatesthehydrocarbongenerationpotentialofcoresamplesfromfieldsA,B,CandDinNigerdelta,Nigeria.Theobjectivesofthisstudyaretocharacterizethequalityofthesecoresamplesbyorganicgeochemicalanalyses.AtotaloftencoresamplescollectedfromfieldsA,B,CandDinNigerdeltawereanalyzedusingtotalorganiccarbon(TOC)contentanalysis,rock-evalpyrolysistechnique.Theanalyticalresultsofthestudiedcoresamplesrevealthattheyhavegenerallyhightotalorganiccarboncontents(TOC),suggestingthatconditionsintheNigerdeltafavourorganicmatterproductionandpreservation.ThereisavariationinthekerogentypesandthismaybeattributedtotherelativestratigraphicpositionsofthecoresampleswithintheNigerdelta.Therock-evalresultsindicatethatthesamplesfromfieldsCandDcontainpredominantlyTypeIIkerogenwithacapacitytogenerateoilandgasandhencehavegoodgenerativepotential.ThesamplesfromfieldsAandBcontainmainlyTypeIIIkerogenandaregas-pronewithmoderategenerativepotential.
