ThestoredenergyandtheenergyreleaseduringSPD(superplasticdeformation)ofaZn-5Alalloywerestudied.Thealloyafterrollingprocessgainsmorestoredenergy,andtheas-rolledspecimencanobtainmaximumelongationandminimumflowstresswithouthotholdingtreatmentbeforeSPD.ExperimentalresultsshowthatstoredenergyreleaseprocessisalongwithSPDprocessandisalsoanimpetustoSPD.Theas-rolledZn-5Alalloyhas48J/molstoredenergywhichwasmeasuredwithDSC(differentialscanningcalorimeter)andconformswelltothecalculatedvalue.Theas-rolledZn-5AlalloyafterSPDwithanelongationof2500%releases112J/molstoredenergy.Analysisshowsthatthestrainrateisindirectratiototherateofstoredenergyrelease.
