TheissueofhealthstatusandcarefortheelderlyinurbanandruralareasisbecomingincreasinglyseriousintherapidcontextofpopulationaginginChina.ThepaperanalyzedthehealthstatusofurbanandruralelderlyinChinainthetwo-weekmorbidityrate,prevalencerateofchronicdiseases,disabilitystatus,self-ratedhealthandhealthylifeexpectancyoftheelderlyusingthedatafromthe2006SamplingSurveyontheStatusofUrban/RuralAgedPopulationinChina,theFourthNationalHealthServiceSurveyandthe2006SecondChinaNationalSampleSurveyonDisability,toexplorethecurrentprovisionofsourcesofcarefortheelderlyandtrytomakesomepolicyrecommendationsabouttoimprovethehealthandcarefortheelderlypopulationfacingthecrisisofpopulationaging.
