摘要
Gymnarchusniloticusswimsbyundulationsofalong-baseddorsalfin,whileitsbodyaxisisinmanycasesheldstraightduringswimming.ThispaperprovidesabriefrelevantintroductiontoGymnarchusniloticus,whichbelongstotheAfricanfreshwaterelectriceelsbutcaninspireourbionicinterestsinpropulsionbesidesitsabilitiesinelectricsensing.AspeciallarvaofGymnarchusniloticuswasmorphologicallymeasuredbyphotographingitwithapieceofscale-calibratedpaperasthebackground.ThenweanalyzedthedatabyaCFD-aidedapproach.DetailedflowpatternsaroundthelarvaandaNACA0012hydrofoilwererespectivelycalculatedandvisualizedattheReynoldsnumberof7350orso.TheresultsshowthattheprofileofGymnarchusniloticusiswellstreamlined.
