摘要
Adatawarehouseoftenaccommodatesenormoussummaryinformationinvariousgranularitiesandismainlyusedtosupporton-lineanalyticalprocessing.Ideallyalldetaileddatashouldbeaccessiblebyresidinginsomelegacysystemsoron-linetransactionprocessingsystems.Inmanycases,however,datasourcesincomputersarealsokindsofsummarydataduetotechnologicalproblemsorbudgetlimitsandalsobecausedifferentaggregationhierarchiesmayneedtobeusedamongvarioustransactionsystems.Insuchcircumstances,itisnecessarytoinvestigatehowtodesigndimensions,whichplayamajorroleindimensionalmodelforadatawarehouse,andhowtoestimatesummaryinformation,whichisnotstoredinthedatawarehouse.Inthispaper,theroughsettheoryisappliedtosupportthedimensiondesignandinformationestimation.
