摘要
UrbanforestryisanemergingscienceandartinthefieldofresourcemanagementinthePhilippines.Theconceptsandprinciplesarequitesimilarwithtraditionalforestrybeingbothresourcemanagementstrategies.Asascienceandart,urbanforestryneedstobeassessedastoitspresentstatus.Hence,inthispaper,IpresentedabriefhistoricalbackgroundabouturbanforestryinthePhilippinesincludingthepreviousandpresentefforts,policiesandprogramsrelatedtourbanforestryandtheextentoftheirimplementation.Ialsoincludedtheresultofmyassessmentabouttheinitiativesandcapabilitiesofthelocalagenciesspecificallythelocalgovernmentunits(LGUs)inMetroManilaonurbanforestry.Ialsoincludedthestatusofurbanforestryresearchincludingtheresearchgapsthatneedtobeaddressed.Somerecommendationsthatarelogicaltowardsustainabilityofurbangreenspacesarelikewiseenumerated.
