ThecreepbehaviorofAI2O3.SiO2fiberreinforcedZL109compositeshasbeeninvestigatedatfourtemperaturesrangingfrom553to623K.Theresultsshowhighstressexponentandhighapparentcreepactivationenergy.Agoodcorrelationbetweenthenormalizedcreeprateandnormalizedeffectivestressmeansthatthetruestressexponentofminimumcreepstrainrateofthecompositeisverycloseto5,andtheminimumcreepstrainrateismatrixlatticediffusioncontrolled.Thethresholdstressdecreaseswithincreasingtemperaturelinearlyanddisappearsatatemperaturecloseto623K.Itisassumedthatthelongrangeinternalbackstressesgeneratedincreepreducetheloadtransfertofibersandtheinteractionbetweendislocationsandstrengtheningprecipitatesdecreasesathightemperature.Atahightemperaturewherethelongrangeinternalbackstressesisveryclosetotheappliedstress,thethresholdstressdisappears.
