Inthe“FriendsofPhotographers”roomfeaturingpaper-cuts,clothworksandShanxi'snoodles,the88-year-oldgrannyFanLanying,siftingcross-leggedonakang,wasleisurelyworkingonherpiecewithherseptuagenariandaughterGuoLan'e.Ontheeasternedgeofthekangwasasmalltable.Notfarfromit,LiXiuyingandherdaughter-in-lawYangXiufangwereseated,busypaper-cutting.Theyareallartisanswithathree-generationpedigree.Atseveralfoodstands,quiteafewpeopleweresittingaroundtables,samplingShanxi'snoodles.
