Anewtetra-N-substitutedtetraazacrownetherderivative,4,7,13,16-tetra(2-cyanobenzyl)-1,10-dioxa-4,7,13,16-tetraazacy-dooctademne,C44H48N8O2,hasbeensynthesizedandstruc-turallycharacterized.Itcrystallizesinthemonoclinicsystem,SlmeegroupP21/cwitha=1.1176(3)nm,b=2.1906(7)nm,c=0.8430(3)nm,V=2.0132(10)nm^3,β=102.740(5)°,Z=4,Dc=1.189g/cm^3,finalR1=0.0460,wR2=0.0803.Theliquidmembranetransportsofalkalimetalcationsusingthenewmacrocydeastheion-carrierwerealsostudied.Com-paredwithsomemacrocyclicligands,ournewlysynthesizedlig.andshowedagoodselectivityratioforNaNa^+/Li^+.
