Thispaperpresentsanewapproachforattenuatingcoherentnoisein3Dseismicdata.Anadaptivebeamformingwithgeneralizedsidelobecanceller(GSC)designmethodologyisutilizedhereasageneralformoflinearlyconstrainedadaptivebeamformingstructure.Itconsistsofafixedbeamformer,andasignal-blockingmatrixinfrontofanunconstrainedadaptivebeamformer.Considerationfofthecomplexityofthegeometryfor3Dseismicsurvey,the3DbeamformingwithGSCtechniqueisdevelopedwithtwokeypoints:(1)sortingalongazimuthsectionstosimplifytherelationshipbetweentraveltimeandoffsetfrom3Dto2D,and(2)dynamicbinningschemetoavoidthepossiblepoorfoldinginsomeazimuthsections.Bothsimulationresultandrealdataexampleshowthatthenewlydeveloped3DbeamformingwithGSCyieldsmorecredibleresultsatarelativelowcost,sufficientstabilityandgoodresolution.
