The2018PaluMW7.5earthquakeandtsunamiattractedgeophysicists'attentionforitsstrikeslipfocalmechanismandmagnitude.Weinspectedthedetailsofthisdisasteranddiscusseditsparticularityandpossiblecausations.Thesubmarinelandslideandspecialterrainconditionscouldhavecontributedtotheunusualsizeofthetsunami.Theearlywarningsystemandthepostdisasterresponseisalsoreviewed.Efficientsocialwarningsandbroadcastsystemsalongwithgoodmaintenanceisessential.Wealsofoundthatenhancingpublicsscientificliteracyisthemostimportantwaytoreducedisasterdamageandcasualties.Moreover,socialconditionsandrebuildingdifficultiesposttsunamiarerelatedasreferenceresourcesforfuturedisastermanagementstrategies.
