TheuniqueCoandasurfacehasagreatinfluenceontheperformanceofbladelessfan.However,thereisfewstudiestoexplaintherelationshipbetweentheperformanceandCoandasurfacecurvatureatpresent.Inordertogainaqualitativeunderstandingofeffectofthecurvatureontheperformanceofbladelessfan,numericalstudiesareperformedinthispaper.Firstly,three-dimensionalnumericalsimulationisdonebyFluentsoftware.ForthepurposetoobtaindetailedinformationoftheflowfieldaroundtheCoandasurface,two-dimensionalnumericalsimulationisalsoconducted.FivetypesofCoandasurfaceswithdifferentcurvaturearedesigned,andtheflowbehaviourandtheperformanceofthemareanalyzedandcomparedwiththoseoftheprototype.TheanalysisindicatesthatthecurvatureofCoandasurfaceisstronglyrelatedtoblowingperformance,ItisfoundthatthereisanoptimalcurvatureofCoandasurfacesamongthestudiedmodels.Simulationresultshowsthatthereisaspeciallowpressureregion.WithincreasingcurvatureinYdirection,severallowpressureregionsgraduallyenlarged,thenbegintomergeslowly,andfinallyformalargeareaoflowpressure.Fromtheanalysesofstreamlinesandvelocityangle,itisfoundthatthemagnitudeofthecurvatureaffectstheflowdirectionandreasonablecurvaturecaninducefluidflowclosetothewall.Thus,itleadstothatthecurvatureofthestreamlinesisconsistentwiththatofCoandasurface.Meanwhile,italsocausesthefluidmovementtowardsthemostsuitabledirection.Thisstudywillprovideusefulinformationtoperformanceimprovementsofbladelessfans.
