Socialmediaisfundamentallychangingthewaypeoplecommunicate,consumeandcollaborate.Itprovidescompaniesanewplatformtointeractwiththeircustomers.Inacademia,thereisasurgeinresearcheffortsonunderstandingitseffects.Thispaperaimstoprovideareviewofcurrentstatusofsocialmediaresearch.Wediscussthespecificdomainsinwhichtheimpactsofsocialmediahavebeenexamined.Abriefreviewofapplicableresearchmethodologiesandapproachesisalsoprovided.
