摘要
Thispaperproposesagraphical-basedmethodologytoevaluatetheperformanceofamanufacturingsystemintermsofnetworkmodel.Wefocusonamanufacturingsystemwhichconsistsofmultipledistinctproductionlines.Atransformationtechniqueisdevelopedtobuildthemanufacturingsystemasamanufacturingnetwork.Insuchamanufacturingnetwork,thecapacityofeachmachineismultistateduetofailure,partialfailure,ormaintenance.Thus,thismanufacturingnetworkisalsoregardedasamultistatenetwork.Weevaluatetheprobabilitythatthemanufacturingnetworkcanmeetagivendemand,wheretheprobabilityisreferredtoasthesystemreliability.Asimplealgorithmintegratingdecompositiontechniqueisproposedtogeneratetheminimalcapacityvectorsthatmachinesshouldprovidetoeventuallysatisfydemand.Thesystemreliabilityisderivedintermsofsuchcapacityvectorsafterwards.ApracticalapplicationinthecontextofICcardmanufacturingsystemisutilizedtodemonstratetheperformanceevaluationprocedure.
